My first collection was sold at a boutique in Astoria with the sole purpose of raising money for a local organization: Apex for Youth. This was in response to the rise in assaults against Asian-Americans in New York City. I wanted to do more than just make a personal donation; I wanted people to be aware and also interact. I’m grateful for Earth & Me who allowed me space in their store so that 100% of sales could go directly to the organization. Customers learned about Apex for Youth while also learning about handmade upcycled jewelry! This was the start of getting deeply involved with the local community. I am lucky to have connected with so many artists and vendors, all of whom care so much about giving back. Pop Up Markets always give a portion, if not all proceeds, to local organizations.
